on the 1.5 at least, there's a bit more to it than that. As well as the sump, also involves work at the front of the engine including removing aux belt, timing chain cover, timing chain, timing pulley, balancer shaft pulley etc, which seems a fair bit of work and I guess would make it worthwhile renewing other parts (e.g. timing chain) while in there.

The 1.5 Liter EcoBoost uses DAMB (Direct Acting Mechanical Bucket) valvetrain that has polished solid buckets or also called tappets. A low friction timing belt-in-oil drives the intake and exhaust camshafts. It also has a dynamic tensioner providing less noise and more efficient running reliability.
My local Ford dealer has quoted over 1700 to change the belt on a 2013 Fiesta which has reached 90,000 miles. From what I recall seeing here on the forum any independent garage willing to do it is going to want somewhere around £1200-1500.
Just bought a 12 plate 1.0 125 Focus Titanium with 69k miles with FSH. No issues as of yet but interesting info after reading this 4 page thread in the Fiesta section !

Another stupid design fault from Ford, who hires nothing but rule of McDonald's engineers, the very same that brought you the DCT transmission.
I just towed in a 2014 1.0 Ecoboost with 66,000 miles. The owner reported a knocking sound, so knowing the owner does not look after his cars well, I presumed the normal blocked oil pump resulting in big end failure, but when I removed the sump I found three teeth from the timing belt. As far as I can make out the car has never had any major

If this happens, the engine will simply cut out, with disastrous consequences. The belt slips and moves via the drive teeth, allowing the valve timing to shift, resulting in an expensive coming together of the pistons and valves. The belt interval on the Ford Focus 1.0 Ecoboost is 150,000 miles or 120 months.
